How to Make a Balloon Garland

Updated: Apr 11, 2023

When you think of party decorations, what comes to mind? Balloons, right? Balloons are classic party decorations that never go out of style. However, if you want to elevate your balloon game to the next level, then you need a balloon garland. Balloon garlands have become a popular party decoration trend for good reason. They look amazing, and they're not that hard to make. In this blog post, I'll show you how to make a balloon garland and offer a quicker solution for those short on time.

Step 1: Gather your supplies.

Before you start, make sure you have all the necessary supplies. You’ll need a variety of balloons in different sizes and colors, fishing line or string, and a balloon pump. It’s also helpful to have a pair of scissors and some adhesive tape. For a large balloon garland, you may want to consider purchasing a balloon decorating strip, which is a plastic strip with pre-attached holes for inserting the balloons.

Step 2: Inflate your balloons.

Using your balloon pump, inflate your balloons to different sizes. Varying the sizes will give your garland a more organic look. You can choose to inflate all of your balloons to the same size, but this often results in a more uniform and less interesting final product. Once all your balloons are inflated, tie the end of each balloon to prevent air from escaping.

Step 3: Assemble the garland.

Starting with the largest balloons, thread each balloon onto your fishing line or string. If you’re using a balloon decorating strip, simply insert the balloons into the pre-attached holes. Once you’ve added all the larger balloons, move on to the medium-sized balloons, and then the smaller ones. Keep alternating colors and sizes until your garland is the desired length. When you’re finished, tie off the ends of the string and trim any excess.

Step 4: Add finishing touches.

To make your balloon garland look even more professional, you can add some extra touches. If you’re using a balloon decorating strip, you can cover it with some decorative ribbon or tulle. You can also add in some foil balloons or balloon letters to create a message or add some extra sparkle. Finally, you can use some adhesive tape to stick your balloon garland to a wall or ceiling.

Step 5: Enjoy your finished product!

Once you’ve completed your balloon garland, take a step back and admire your hard work. Hang it up at your party or event and watch as it becomes the centerpiece of the room. Your guests will be amazed at your creativity and will love taking photos in front of your stunning balloon garland.

But what if you don't have the time or patience to make a balloon garland? That's where A Beautiful Cluster comes in.
